Dan’s letter from Kenya, November 9, 2011

Greetings All!

Well, we are in the final week of our trip to Kenya!

We started our seminar yesterday. The theme of this year’s seminar is all about Jesus and all the things the Bible has to say about him (Redeemer, Atonement, Savior, etc.) We kicked the Seminar off with a look at “God’s Eternal Plan” and then looked at several passages in the Old Testament that foreshadow the coming of Christ. We have two sessions each day (10am-12pm, a break for lunch, 1pm-3pm) and one final session Friday morning.

The really impressive thing is, these folks are taking off days of work from their shambas (farms), from their taxi services, etc. These folks don’t have hardly any money to start with, so they are making quite a sacrifice taking this time off to get to study together. But they believe it’s worth the sacrifice. It’s quite amazing.

We had 65 people present yesterday. People from all of the groups we were able to visit the first week and half have come. People from Munyange, Mukurwe-ini, Nyahururu, Four-mile, Kianghai/Karatina , Mantanya and several from the Nyeri group.

Lord willing, I’ll be home in time for church next Wednesday (at Spring Warrior). I look forward to seeing you all again.
